Some best places to visit in Azerbaijan

In this article, you will be getting some of the best places to visit in Azerbaijan on your vacation. However, there are many more than the list of places in this article.

1. Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, is located on the Caspian Sea and is a strange mix of the old walled city of Icheri Seher and a modern building craze that has resulted in an influx of skyscrapers, many of which are adorned with LCD screens. After arriving in Azerbaijan, this is the place to go. Make sure you don't miss the Flame Towers, which are three towers designed to look like fire and cast a bronzed glow over the city at night. The Museum of Contemporary Art, which has over 900 artworks by up-and-coming artists from the region and is well worth a visit for those interested in modern culture, also embraces the modern.

2. Garasu Volcano

Many visitors to Azerbaijan are unaware that the country has the world's highest concentration of mud volcanoes. 350, to be precise! The Garasu Volcano, which has been known to spew mud over 1,000 meters into the air, is one of the most well-known. When gases under the earth build up, they push mud high into the air as a release, resulting in volcanoes. The first mud volcanoes are thought to have erupted 25 million years ago in Azerbaijan, and visitors to Garasu frequently comment that it looks like the moon's surface.

3. Caspian Sea

The Caspian Sea, despite its name, is actually the world's largest lake, with a surface area of 371,000 square kilometers. This is the place that you can not miss after arriving in Azerbaijan. The Caspian Sea sits on what appears to be an ocean bed, and the water is salty, but it has a lower saline content than other seas and oceans, making it ideal for swimming because it is less likely to irritate the skin. Bot cruises, diving opportunities, and fishing are all popular activities on the Caspian Sea.

4. Nabran

Nabran is a village in Azerbaijan that has evolved into a tourist destination. It is located approximately 3 hours northeast of Baku. The climate in Nabran, which is located on the banks of the Caspian Sea, is one of the city's main draws, with plenty of sunshine during the summer months. As a result, Nabran has a plethora of water-based activities to take advantage of the warm weather, including an aqua park and a variety of swimming pools scattered throughout the city. For those who want to sample Azerbaijan's nightlife, there are bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to choose from.

5. Yanardag

Visit Yanardag to see the so-called "burning flame outlets." Yarnadag means "burning mountain," and the hills here appear to be burning all the time due to gas deposits beneath the surface of the sandstone. At dusk, when the flames are most visible, visitors flock to this impressive natural phenomenon, and the area is also dotted with quaint teashops where you can sit in comfort and watch the spectacle while sipping a local beverage. Yanardag differs from other Azerbaijani mud volcanoes in that there are no lava or mud deposits erupting from the hills, and the region is also of great religious significance. Fire is said to have been inspired by the fires.

6. Yanar Bulag

A visit to Yanar Bulag, a curious natural phenomenon located on the road between the towns of Astara and Lankaran, is a must if you want to see burning water. The water is pumped out of a pipe and can catch fire due to the presence of natural methane, bringing the oxymoron of flaming water to life. Azerbaijanis believe the water here has healing properties, and much of it is collected as drinking water to treat a variety of ailments.

7. Icheri Seher

Icheri Seher, also known as "Old City" and "Fortress," is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Baku's center, where you'll find amazing architectural feats all over this protected quarter. Maiden Tower, which dates from the 12th century and was once part of Baku's ancient walled city, and Shirvanshah Palace, which was built in the 13th century, are two examples. Come for the architecture, but also for the handicrafts, such as ceramics, and textiles, such as carpets and traditional Azerbaijani clothing. Icheri Seher has a plethora of shops that are ideal for a leisurely stroll through the city's historic center and the opportunity to pick up some souvenirs.

8. Absheron National Park

Absheron National Park, located in the Azizbeyov region of Baku, covers 783 hectares of protected land and is the ideal place to see Azerbaijan's stunning flora and fauna. Gazelles, birds, jackals, badgers, and Caspian seals are among the local wildlife found in the national park. The land here is mostly dry steppe, which lends itself to romantic rolling sand dunes and swaying reed-like grass.
